Chicks on Speed
In June, Massimo Giorgetti had one of the best shows of men’s fashion week, a safari-inspired collection that saw the models wielding torches along the pitch-black runway. That’s the MSGM way: the show is always one you’ll remember.
Annoyingly, this Milan fashion week is an absolute wash-out. The Diesel show took place in a storm (which turned out pretty epic actually) and Gucci had to quickly relocate Sabato De Sarno’s debut show. The MSGM show met a similar fate, Giorgetti’s much-anticipated catwalk antics had to be cancelled and the show was forced indoors, into a grey show space. But at least we got Chicks on Speed soundtracking the runway.
There was a lot of very fun outfits, the muslin coat with black fringe and matching bag, the confetti-like dresses and jumpers that look straight out of the shredder basket, the shirt and skirt with Gio Ponti chair motifs. It was all tremendously playful. Though given that the shoes on this runway were a very light sandal, seemingly tied directly onto the feet of the grey stocking’d models, it’s probably for the best they didn’t have to jump any puddles.
