Raw, stripped back

Ferrari put materiality in the driving seat
By Alex James Taylor | Fashion | 28 September 2025

The first nineteen looks of the Ferrari SS26 show were uncharacteristically stark and minimalist. In lush, pale shades entirely without colour, the fabrications were left in their natural hues, placing the focus on silhouette and construction – classic tailoring morphed into architectural outerwear, clean-lined suiting, and sharply contoured dresses. Materials excelled: silk canvas, tussah silk, cashmere gauze and silk moiré.

Then came the denim – distressed, deconstructed and acid-etched, manipulated through innovative techniques that mimicked worn-in patina. This gave way to leather: sculptural and structured in deep rust hues. And then, the magma red. Bursts of Ferrari red – as vivid as brake lights on the Mondial – electrified the palette, cast across a sleeveless top, delicately draped skirt, and an elevated pit stop jumpsuit. The last sequence of looks introduced an exquisite shimmering marble effect that evolved look by look until fully decorating the final jacket and skirt combo.
