For their SS21 Men’s and Women’s pre-collection, designers and identical twins Dean and Dan Caten invited the viewer backstage onto the set of the shoot for the collection’s lookbook, where rolling “behind-the-scenes” footage of the designers interacting with the models brought the lookbook to life.

The first sequence, filmed in black and white and soundtracked by a jazz score with a cymbal beat, showcased the collection’s eveningwear and tailoring as the camera panned across models posing insouciantly next to fans and spotlights, dressed in sleek, narrow tuxedos in breezy tropical wools, adorned with shimmering black sequins or rendered in lustrous gold jacquard.

As the monochrome film segued into colour, the eveningwear gave way to the brighter, sportier section of the collection, comprising of graphic print tees, sweatshirts, bombers and tracksuit pants made from paper-crisp cottons and nylons and rendered in a primary colour palette of pillar-box red and citrus yellow. The label’s signature maple leaf motif, a nod to the designers’ Canadian roots, featured on sweatshirts and the backs of jackets while denim shorts were hybridised with nylon, offering a new spin on a brand staple. Sweatshirts, bombers, and tracksuits featured adjustable drawstrings, enabling the wearer to play with the volume of silhouettes. Merging elegance and sports performance, the collection coalesced around one main theme: “real clothes for real men and women”.
