Hot As Hell
Opened with a raunchy short film directed by Italian icon Rocco Siffredi, Dan and Dean Caten’s DSquared2 SS24 collection lived up to its name: D2Naughty. A hot mash-up of flashy, trashy 00s sex appeal oozed to the beat of Donna Summer’s Love To Love You Baby as the Italian house battled between country club prep and sex party chic.
Golf-tennis wear hybrids were given a risqué makeover with exposed underwear for the guys and barely there minidress for the girls, notably worn by Julia Fox who paraded the runway in a lacy white babydoll number. Collegiate prints of argyle and pastel pinstripes were fashioned into figure-hugging corsets and boucle cardigans spliced open to reveal gold shell cup bikinis. In the same vein, varsity sportswear was overhauled as rugby shirts were cropped and knotted at the bust, baseball cap mesh was crafted into underwear and duffle bags were decorated with Americana sport style graphics.
Short shorts reigned supreme as hemlines rose way above a 5inch inseam, Rolling Stone tongues were shredded on tanks and tees were emblazoned with NSFW slogans reading “Tag Team BJ” and “All Hung All Horny” –there was clearly only one thing on the designer duo’s mind this season. Delving into the brand’s archive saw denim arrive unadulterated and downright sexy, slung as low as humanly possible on the hips and slashed at the thighs. For the guys, reworked jeans were accentuated by a zip-away back to reveal what lies beneath in an ode to a signature DSquared2 silhouette from the 00s.
Siffredi himself partook in the finale of the show, ending proceedings on a high by opening his unassuming tailored blue blazer to reveal a fiery red t-shirt adorned with the acronym V.I.P – Very Important Penis. Need we say anymore?
