Ice cool
Closing out the first day of Milan Fashion Week, Dean and Dan Caten invited guests into the flurry of a snowstorm. Set against the backdrop of makeshift snow-covered mountains and pine trees, the Dsquared2 runway mimicked a Canadian ski resort, with models kitted out for the slopes – and the aprés bars. Set to a custom soundtrack, created using AI technology, according to the show notes, this season catapulted the design duo’s vision into the future. And, to top of proceedings, Internet boyfriend of the moment Hudson Williams opened the show – proving the viral success of Heated Rivalry is very much here to stay.
Harking back to their Canadian roots, this season focused on winter sports and the subcultures that blossom from its community. Boys donned hockey jerseys, 70s-inspired ski knitwear, giant puffer jackets and full-body race suits. Despite the colder climate, Dsquared2 showed some skin, of course, as chiselled abs appeared from beneath faux fur outerwear, legs braved the weather in tiny shorts, and looks featured skin-baring bustiers. Denim sets shimmered, frosted almost as if caught in a blizzard, while latex sculpted the body in form-fitting bodysuits and mini dresses were built from stacks of puffer coats. As the snow began settle, it was clear that Dsquared2’s new characters were armed with both the equipment and attitude to brace the storm.
