Country comforts

Bluemarble celebrated the joy of travel, and the joy of being home again

Invited to take a seat to enjoy the beloved French tradition of ‘le goûter’, guests were greeted by tables piled high with crêpes, raspberry sundaes and apple tarts displayed on floral crockery. Transporting the audience to his favourite childhood memories from time spent growing up in the French countryside, Anthony Alvarez’s FW25 collection was inspired by the comfort of home.

An eclectic mix of Silver Apples’ Velvet Cave, Françoise Hardy’s La maison où j’ai grandi and Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young’s Our House (spot the theme) rang through the speakers as models appeared from behind a draped white curtain. The collection delved into the designer’s travels across the globe, fusing Americana with his love of traditional tailoring as jersey slogan tees and motorcycle jackets walked alongside sweeping overcoats and deconstructed suit trousers. Velour co-ords acted as a reimagined take on a traditional tracksuit, while chunky knitwear was adorned with shimmery embellishment or the beaded fringes from lamps found in country cottages. On foot, the brand unveiled a new partnership with UGG – the Ascot slipper – crafted with a chunky sole and embroidered with beaded leaves.
