Alyx SS24 went hardcore
By Barry Pierce | Fashion | 17 June 2023

The setting was perfect for Alyx SS24. A vast, old warehouse. All concrete and rafters. The brand, the solo project of Givenchy creative director Matthew M Williams, is often so in-debt to the industrial, to the polyester uniforms of gabber and hardcore. How fitting to have high-necked jackets and trackie pants make their way down the catwalk. Models with shaved heads and strong jaws in oversized raver jackets. It was an ode to Kappa-core.

It was all so timelessly Alyx,  but Williams changed things up halfway through. Suddenly, denim jeans and check shirts made an appearance. Is this the raver in his day drag? Williams also delved into some new materials. Bombers, jackets, vests, and trousers presented in treated leather, a first for the brand, a hint at sophistication and craft.

On foot, the brand further expanded its footwear range. Rugged canvas combat boots and derby shoes, all featuring that uber-chunky sole.
