“I was thinking about this idea of emotional patchworking,” said creative director Jonny Johansson, “This collection is about creating from what is around us, making something new from something familiar.” The world was turned upside down during the pandemic, and we were rattled – but we’re putting ourselves together. For his FW22 show, across a stark white runway, Johansson’s beautiful Frankenstein creations spoke of repair – inside and out. Distressed knits were mended with crystals, quilted upholstery became outerwear, patched denim was manipulated into ballgowns and t-shirt sleeves hung on hook-and-eye fastenings. Out of destruction comes beauty.
