Lights On
A sorely missed highlight from the LFW schedule, 16Arlington revealed its FW25 collection in the form of a lookbook shot by Ethan James Green in New York City. Titled Lights On, this season saw Marco Capaldo turn to the decade of glamour and excess, offering an alternative take on 80s power dressing.
Core codes of the 16Arlington universe remain but were reimagined, sequins scaled up in size and feathers layered on lurex, while typically streamlined silhouettes transformed into puffball skirts and balloon trousers. Generally opting for a neutral colour palette, this season Capaldo played with block colours and vibrant florals, executing garments in hues of deep purples and vibrant fuchsia. Textures of supple leather, rigid denim and fuzzy wool were crafted into voluminous bomber jackets, corseted bubble dresses and micro mini skirts detailed with 16A buckled belts.
Speaking on the collection, Capaldo said; “The 1980s was, like today, a time of extremes. We’ve all heard this idea that hemlines get longer in periods of economic recession – I wanted to do the opposite, to resist this shift towards minimalism, to tap back into the unapologetic glamour that the brand was built on and argue there is still a place for dressing up, for maximalism, for joy. There has to be.”
