Camper has collaborated with Ethical Fashion Initiative (EFI) on a limited edition collection produced entirely in Ethiopia.

This season is the second collaboration between the two, and sees artisans reinterpret Camper’s very first shoe, Camaleon, with African aesthetics and their own individual flair. The resulting styles – a sandal and a lace-up – incorporate East African handmade tie-dyed leather. All cast in dark indigo for men and vivid blue for women – perfect summer vibes.

The partnership stems from the International Trade Centre’s flagship programme, which empowers micro-producers in developing countries by connecting them with fashion brands like Camper. The initiative has seen Camper support the development of the collaborating tannery’s technical footwear development techniques, at the same time as gaining access to the skillsets of local artisans.

This collaboration is one of several similar partnerships organised by EFI, from Camper to Marni, Vivienne Westwood and Stella McCartney. As well as connecting skilled local workers with international fashion brands, they support Africa’s rising generation of fashion designers, encouraging them to forge sustainable and fulfilling creative collaborations with local artisans.
