Gosha Rubchinskiy will show his SS18 collection in Saint Petersburg, Russia on Friday 9th June.

Following the designer’s FW17 homecoming show in Kaliningrad, this recent announcement sees Rubchinskiy shift around 500 miles east to the port city of Saint Petersburg, the country’s second largest city. Rewind to last season’s homecoming show and you’ll remember a special Adidas collection, this is set to continue through to his latest offering, in light of the upcoming 2018 World Cup, to be held in Russia.

For Gosha, this return to Russia makes perfect sense. Known for his personal translation of post-soviet Russian culture, the designer-cum-photographer is synonymous for his work documenting the youth culture and skate culture that exists in Moscow and Saint Petersburg. For evidence, look no further than his 2013 work, Transfiguration, a multidimensional project comprising an art gallery, a photography workshop and a skateboard park, held on the island of New Holland in Saint Petersburg.

Known as Russia’s cultural centre, Saint Petersburg is home to more than two hundred museums, including the State Russian Museum (showing works from Orthodox paintings to Kandinsky) and the majestic Mariinsky Theatre – so there’s no shortage of impressive venues for Gosha to pick from.
