In celebration of MCM‘s 40th anniversary, the luxury German leather goods brand has teamed up with British menswear designer Christopher Raeburn for a new capsule collection titled Made to Move.

Inspired by physics and environmental factors, the range consists of a ready-to-wear and accessories featuring re-imagined MCM bags, graphics inspired by sonic waves (a nod to MCM’s connection with the music world – a constant source of inspiration for its designers) and fragmented camouflage prints (a signature Raeburn calling card).

In honour of Munich, the birthplace of MCM, Raeburn has reinterpreted the colours of the Bavarian flag and executed the entire collection in muted shades of grey, blue and yellow.

Designed for the modern day global nomad, each piece is both trans-seasonal and unisex. But don’t expect to see any bulky drag-along-the-floor suitcases here, Raeburn has catered for all travel needs via a series of neat multi-purpose modular bags. Based on military repurposing, the three-in-one bag system allows clever customisation. For example, a day bag with a carry handle can be reconfigured into a backpack – clever. So whether your idea of a perfect holiday is a week on the beach flat on your back, or a sweaty hiking exertion, this new collab has all bases covered.

Made to Move was first premiered during LFWM in January: the show featured a 360-degree immersive installation that took attendees on a journey through “pop-digital weather systems”. Created through a combination of radial architecture, models traversed through shifting landscapes that morphed into different urban scenes, a playful nod to MCM’s history as one of leading designers of travel accessories.

The 25-piece collection are available in MCM Stores, online, and in selected multi-brand stores now.
