When Zayn Malik isn’t collaborating with fellow musicians like Taylor Swift and Lil Wayne, he’s teaming up with fashion’s elite, proving he’s a a dab hand in the design room as well as the recording studio.

Ahead of the musician’s recently announced collaboration with Versus Versace (set to launch in May 2017), the 24-year-old’s latest venture into the world of fashion sees him collaborate with Italian designer Giuseppe Zanotti for a capsule footwear collection titled Giuseppe for Zayn (#GiuseppexZayn).

“I really believe style comes from taking chances, being bold and not being afraid to express yourself,” says Zayn. “I feel Giuseppe does that with his collections — and I try to do that with my music. So when the idea came up to collaborate, I thought ‘yes, this would work.’”

Taking inspiration from boxing boots and masculine silhouettes, the collection consists of two boots and two sneakers in leathers and suedes, each featuring a special “Giuseppe for Zayn” embossed logo plate.

“Zayn is a fashion icon, truly,” says Giuseppe Zanotti. “It’s who he is, it’s not fake. Just as his music is soulful, his style is natural. His whole approach is contemporary, an easy coolness with the right amount of modern rebel.”
