Last night, filmmaker Michael Moore announced the surprise screening of a Donald Trump documentary weeks before the US election, titled Michael Moore in TrumpLand.

Based on his failed efforts to stage a one-man show about the Republican nominee in an Ohio theatre, the films synopsis reads: “See the film Ohio Republicans tried to shut down.” Having been shut down by the theatre, Moore then decided to shoot a secret documentary on the cancelled event, Variety reports.

At its premiere at the IFC Center in Greenwich Village on Tuesday night, Moore gave a one-hour introduction in which he endorsed Hilary Clinton but warned of complacency: “If you support Hillary Clinton and you’ve been doing this hands-on dance and celebrating her early victory, you’ve been helping to defeat her,” Moore said.

“Every time you felt good about how the debate went – or every stupid, ridiculous thing that Trump has done… it’s a dangerous position to take…There’s a long tradition of Americans electing people they weren’t going to elect,” he added.
