Skateboarder Dylan Rieder passes away aged 28
By Alex James Taylor | 13 October 2016

Yesterday, skateboarder Dylan Rieder sadly passed away at the age of 28 after a battle with leukaemia.

Growing up in Westminster, California, Rieder began skating from the age of nine and at eighteen he went pro for Alien Workshop. His effortless, graceful and powerful style was an influence to many and transcended the skate scene. In 2013, he joined Huf, and the following spring, he was featured prominently in Supreme’s Cherry video (earning the Transworld Skateboarding award for ‘Best Part’). That year, he also left Alien Workshop for Fucking Awesome.

Renowned for his inimitable style both on and off the board (that signature look of high water jeans and tucked in shirts) he carved a path of his own that placed him as one of the most likeable and inspirational skateboarders of all time.

“Today, October 12th, 2016, surrounded by family and friends, Dylan Joseph Rieder passed away due to complications with Leukemia. His passion for life, art, music, fashion and skateboarding has always been contagious. Dylan will be remembered by all as a loving son, brother and friend. In lieu of sending flowers, the family requests donations be made in Dylan’s memory to Dr. Stephen Forman.” Read a statement from Dylan’s manager posted on Jenkem Magazine’s Facebook page.

Thank you for making skateboarding so much better while you were here, Dylan.
