Court date set for Fabric’s appeal hearing

Last month, London nightclub Fabric was closed after the Islington Council revoked the club’s license following the suspected drug-related deaths of two 18-year-old men outside the venue.

Since then, the club has been seeking donations to fund an appeal – named #saveourculture – raising £268,445 to date. Today, it was announced on the club’s blog that an appeal hearing has been scheduled for November 28 at Highbury Magistrates Court and the club representatives have begun to prepare their case. In addition to fighting the council’s decision to close the club, fabric’s appeal will aim to see changes made to the current Licensing Act.

“During these two weeks we have been busy working on our twin objectives, the appeal against the revocation of the licence and the need to change the Guidance under the Licensing Act,” said Gary Kilbey (Managing Director) in the latest transparency statement.
