Dress to impress

In a move that may somewhat seem ironic, Grindr is encouraging you to keep your clothes on. And not just your clothes, but theirs.
The LGBTQ dating app is releasing a full menswear varsity line in collaboration with design studio POAM, and all funds benefit the app’s latest cause: ending homophobia and transphobia in sports. Grindr has had a long history of raising money and awareness for issues that hit close to home. Previously, they’ve raised money for gay Syrian refugees, worked with charities to find shelter for homeless LGBTQ teens, and de-stigmatised PrEP treatment.
This move isn’t the first to see Grindr linked to the fashion world – not too long ago we saw fashion label J.W. Anderson team up with the app to live stream its FW16 collection.

As the line is a varsity collection, expect to find products such as track pants, jockstraps (naturally), mesh tops, bandanas, anoraks, and much more. The collection boasts a lot of bold colours with fun designs and, according to Grindr, evokes “queer pop-culture and Ancient Greek motifs.”
Prices range from $25.00 (approx. £19) to $130.00 USD (approx. £100) with all proceeds going to Athlete Ally, a nonprofit focused on ending homophobia and transphobia in the sports community. The collection is now available to purchase here.
