Master of a specific kind of understated humour, Anton Yelchin – one of this generation’s most promising young actors – died this morning aged 27 in his driveway in studio city in a fatal traffic accident. No other vehicles are believed to have been involved according to The Guardian.

Yelchin was the star of indie-hit Green Room, alongside Patrick Stewart; undoubtedly one of this year’s most riveting and original movies, although more mainstream outings for Star Trek laid the foundations of what was set to be a hugely promising career.

To celebrate the memory of a huge talent cut tragically short, we’ll be re-watching these Yelchin star-turns: Green Room (2015, as above, must-see cinema), Charlie Bartlett (2007, Yelchin’s first big Hollywood lead), Odd Thomas (2013, very random very stoner movie, watch late at night), Only Lovers Left Alive (2013, heartfelt and sensitive supporting role).
