Cultural provocateurs
Out with the norm, in with avant-garde. For his FW16 campaign, Marc Jacobs has recruited an eclectic line-up including hip hop royalty Missy Elliot and creative provocateur Genesis Breyer P-Orridge, shot by David Sims.

Via Instagram, Jacobs expanded on his choices, “[they are] a reminder to question and challenge normal and to continue exploring and pushing boundaries.” As a “collective embodiment of love, honesty, integrity, courage, strength, curiosity and inspiration,” Jacobs’ new campaign echoes the ethos of those individuals included.
The campaign also features Carlos Santolalla and John Tuite, who last year became the first gay couple to sign to a modelling agency. “Inspired in part by Jean Genet’s, Querelle de Brest and a nod to late legendary artists, Lou Reed and Robert Mapplethorpe,” an image particularly evocative given the recent horrific events in Orlando.
