Supreme collaborates with revered and celebrated artist Urs Fischer on limited-edition skateboard decks
By Lewis Firth | Art | 21 March 2016

Internationally renowned artist, Urs Fischer, has collaborated with Supreme on three limited-edition skateboard decks. Each deck holds an image of a cigarette at a different stage of deterioration and directly reflects the artists’s respect for the passage of time.

Fischer’s veneration for Neo-Dada and Situationist International sprouted his focus on time and decay. Portraits, landscapes, nudes, still-life and sculpture are mediums pertinent to Fischer’s broad portfolio. The latter is what he’s most respected for: impermanent constructs are designed to decay, an action symbiotically intertwined with his concepts.

Ideas from the artist transcend established notions of art, which also explains his fixation on everyday objects—audiences are consequentially encouraged to ponder on objects’ existence, its degeneration and thus its connotations to reality and themselves.

Decks will available in stores (NY, LA, London and Paris) and online on March 24, and in Japan on March 26.
