Canali – 200 Steps – Riccardo Zacconi
For over eight decades the Italian tailoring icon, Canali, has been one true paragon for the Made in Italy paradigm. The company’s fabric has been woven with historical references, modern-day culture and progressive tastes that appeals to the more sophisticated, spruced-up side of masculinity.
Canali’s ongoing film-series 200 Steps is their way of tipping its tailor-made trilby to the boys that have mastered a triple-partnership of patience, entrepreneurship and creativity. It represents the amount of phases it requires to produce an Italian-made, tailored suit – an encompassing notion reflecting then boys’ methodical journey to their success, too. In the past, Michael Douglas and even Canali’s new Creative Consultant, Andrea Pompilio, have featured in the series. This time, it’s the architect behind the one and only Candy Crush: Riccardo Zacconi.
In the video, Zacconi speaks briefly about his experiences with masterminding Candy Crush – specifically noting how it was invented in the bathtub – and how his father being a dentist dissuaded him from following a similar, academic route. Zacconi comparatively suggests the operational similarities between Canali and Crush’s parent company: “At King, we have a passion for excellence, and the desire to create something which lasts,” he explains, “something I know the team at Canali also share.” Gaming and tailoring may seem like polar opposites, but here their philosophies run parallel.
