The Shacklewell Lane store is open again, but not as you know it
East London anchor LN-CC has gone under the knife to unveil some brand new components in time for the new season. In another nod to Stanley Kubrick’s 2001: A Space Odyssey, an octagonal, mirrored tunnel has become the “Secular Space”, housing footwear and leather goods. As if vanity wasn’t already an issue, you can now make octo-sure that you’re buying the right pair of shoes.
The Chameleon Sound Space – a wood-panelled expanse of juxtaposition – is a private in-store bar and sound space that will be used for LN-CC events. New York disco pioneer Thomas Bullock will be its first resident, using the sound space as a base for his record label.
To cement their new transformation, the exhibition space at LN-CC is also parading some new work. Beaded, technicolour skulls by Catherine Martin under the moniker Our Exquisite Corpse are on show. For first-timers, the Shacklewell Lane store is worth a visit and if you’ve already been, you’re due for a second look.
