Anthony Vaccarello has been announced as creative director at Versus Versace, set to take over all collections – including menswear – from Autumn Winter 2015.

The announcement follows the success of the Brussels-hailing designer’s hotly anticipated capsule collection for Versus (previous collaborators include Christopher Kane and JW Anderson), which debuted during New York Fashion Week last September and included a sharp smattering of men’s looks. Tailoring, trainers and a monochrome (very Vaccarello) take on iconic Versace prints. Sex and detail.

The new appointment will see Vaccarello work on the reinvigorated Versus line under the supervision of artistic director Donatella Versace. “I’ve followed Anthony’s work from his very first collection, as soon as I met him I realised immediately he was the one, he gets it, his talent screams Versus Versace,” said Donatella Versace in the release. “I love his fresh energy and innovation and I love being surrounded by a talent which brings newness to Versace.”

It’s that vampy sense of rock ‘n’ roll (and inimitable sensitivity towards what his clients feel good in) that has seen Vaccarello’s talent align with the house, in addition to the fast rising of his own eponymous line. Suffice to say the designer’s fans will be happy to soon get their proper share of his Versus-tinged sensibilities. And with Donatella’s buy now, wear now digital concept, no sooner as you’ve seen the collection online can you have it at your doorstep. Welcome to the future.
