Dario Vitale has exited Versace after presenting just one collection. The news of his departure comes just days after Versace’s much-publicised sale to Prada Group in a deal that was worth in excess of $1 billion. “We would like to sincerely thank Dario for his outstanding contribution to the development of the brand’s creative strategy during this transition period, and we wish him all the very best in his future endeavours,” Versace said in a statement.

The news of Vitale’s departure comes as a surprise to many, as his debut collection for Versace was well-received by critics and consumers alike. He was also considered an excellent choice for the role, having spent fourteen years in-house at Miu Miu where he was regarded as the leading light in the brand’s global renaissance. A new creative lead for Versace has yet to be announced.
