Sing your heart out
Daniel Fletcher has launched a new 16-piece capsule collection inspired by that office party staple, karaoke. Called Karaoke Club, the collection celebrates the “communal energy” of karaoke and its chaotic pride of place in both Chinese and British culture.
To Fletcher, the collection was inspired by his first visits to China. “When I started coming to China to work with the team here, I was putting in some late nights at the studio and every night I would hear this faint singing and echoes of music drifting its way up to the windows of my 6th-floor office,” Fletcher tells us. “After a bit of searching, I discovered there’s an outdoor Karaoke set-up someone’s made just outside between our HQ and the riverbank and every night people go after work and blast out a few tunes. I loved this idea – what a great way to end your day. I wanted to channel this energy into the capsule so the pieces are sort of like merch for the outdoor karaoke gang below my office.”

Expanding Fletcher’s evolving vision for the brand, highlights of the unisex collection include signature scarves and woollen outerwear. Rugby polos, work shirts, and plenty of stripes also bring Fletcher’s signature mix of classic British staples to the Chinese brand. The number 7 motif, which often appears in place of a brand logo, is a reference to the number’s place in Chinese numerology, where it is used as a symbol of good luck.
The biggest question we have for Fletcher however, is what’s his go-to karaoke song? “I’m a Proud Mary man, but give me a few drinks and you’ll get my Don’t Cry For Me Argentina.”
