“We want to champion these champions” – Amiri are the official formalwear partner of FC Barcelona
By Alex James Taylor | Fashion | 11 November 2025

Luxury meets legacy as Amiri becomes the official formalwear partner of FC Barcelona. One of the most decorated and prestigious clubs in the world – 80 domestic trophies, 23 worldwide titles, and an alumni of the sport’s biggest stars – the collaboration blends Amiri’s artistry with Barcelona’s own; celebrated for their signature tiki-taka style of play. Spotlighting Amiri’s tailoring craft, the LA brand will design custom suiting for all players, across both their men’s and women’s teams, as well as club executives and leadership.

A dialogue between the atelier and the arena, between Hollywood and the Camp Nou, the collection draws from FC Barcelona’s historic blaugrana colours, translating those iconic navy and garnet tones into sleek silhouettes: double-and single-breasted jackets, six-button overcoats and pinstripe trousers for winter. While summer looks embrace Amiri’s Californian ease, translating sports-inspired formal silhouettes back to sport. Detailing sees FC Barcelona embroidery and player initial monograms add a personalised touch.

Marking the collaboration, we spoke to Mike Amiri about how the partnership came about, and how Barcelona’s stars mirror the Hollywood icons forever pinned to his moodboard.

Alex James Taylor: Can you tell us how this collaboration came about?
Mike Amiri: The process was totally organic – it really was sparked by a mutual respect and understanding, a kinship between our approaches to our craft, our calling. I always love collaborating with sporting figures, because for me there is a deep connection between sport and fashion, on so many levels. They’re both dynamic, about pursuing goals and realising dreams – and about achieving that through dedication, work and honing your skill. There’s also the idea of heritage – Barça was established over 125 years ago, while at Amiri we always draw on timeless traditions of tailoring. But in both our approaches, there’s a sense of modernity, a feel for the future – in how we at Amiri transform tailoring for life today, and in FC Barcelona collaborating with a young brand with a fresh perspective. Many of the players were already wearing Amiri, so there was a natural connection. From there, we built something that felt authentic and forward-looking.

AJT: We know you love sport and collaborate with the biggest global sporting talents – how does working with Barcelona expand this ethos while echoing Amiri’s own world?
MA: It’s a true honour to work with FC Barcelona. For me, what’s thrilling is to collaborate with sporting figures who are real icons, some of the greatest athletes in sport today. FC Barcelona is a record-breaking club in its achievements, one of the most decorated and celebrated in the world. But it is also more than sport – FC Barcelona has become part of culture, which is always what I aspire for with Amiri, and why we always look outside of fashion to collaborate across pop culture, sport, music. I’m really inspired by FC Barcelona’s motto – Més que un club, ‘More than a club’. What Amiri does is more than fashion, too. It’s about going beyond, finding a new cultural relevance and resonance with your audience.

“In both our approaches, there’s a sense of modernity, a feel for the future.”

AJT: In terms of the designs, how did you want the collection to translate Barcelona’s DNA alongside your own? Can you take us through the looks?
MA: There’s a very direct link between the designs and the identity of FC Barcelona – and the styles are really a fusion of their codes and emblems with the hallmarks of everything we do at Amiri. FC Barcelona play in dark blue and garnet stripes, they’re even nicknamed ‘Blaugrana’. The stripes feature on the necktie, and navy blue has become the key colour of the collaboration – their kit stripes echoed subtly through our choice of a pinstripe wool. We propose fluid tailoring in double-breasted options for men and single-breasted options for female players, both with double-breasted overcoats. But I also wanted to offer something that spoke about how tailoring has evolved today – that modernity, to be found in heritage – so we offered a shirt-collar classic blouson in the pinstripe wool as Summer tailoring, a reflection of how people dress today and nodding, of course, to sport. We want to champion these champions

“FC Barcelona has become part of culture, which is always what I aspire for with Amiri.”

AJT: How’s your soccer knowledge? Do you play?
MA: I feel like soccer is an obsession everywhere in the world – except the US! Although here it’s now exploding, with its presence and visibility really growing. My kids love soccer. For me, what I am drawn to across sports as a whole is the idea of drive, of commitment and that passion. It’s something I identify with, in myself – and of course, you get caught up with the thrill of the game.
