Weekend Combo

A terrifying walk, Thurston Moore up-close, and a David Lynch podcast
12 September 2025

It’s a week before London Fashion Week begins and we don’t stop moving for several weeks, so we’re preparing with a Stephen King adaptation, some Thurston Moore distortion, and a David Lynch podcast. We’ll see you bright and early next weekend for Fashion Week madness.

Film

Cooper Hoffman and David Jonsson star in Stephen King’s The Long Walk
At the height of Stephen King’s fame in the 1970s, the author secretly published a number of novels under the pseudonym Richard Bachman, as an experiment to see whether people bought his books because they were good, or if they were just buying them because they had ‘Stephen King’ on the cover. The ruse was discovered in the mid-80s but the books, known collectively as the Bachman Books, have had a unique legacy as stories that King wrote when he wasn’t trying to be Stephen King. Two of the Bachman books are getting adaptations this year, The Running Man and The Long Walk.

The Long Walk is set in a dystopian America where contestants take part in a deathly walking contest. 100 young men walk continuously at a steady pace and if any of them drop below a certain speed, they are shot and killed. Cheery stuff! The adaptation stars Cooper Hoffman and David Jonsson and is directed by the man who helmed the whole Hunger Games series, Francis Lawrence.

The Long Walk is out now.

We want Moore
Noise maestro Thurston Moore lands at Hackney Oslo this Saturday, bringing his signature blend of experimental bliss. From Sonic Youth legend to solo icon, Moore’s set promises a wild ride through distortion, drones, and melodic twists. It’s Thurston Moore, live, loud, and up-close. Need we say more? If you know, you know.

Thurston Moore plays Hackney Oslo on Saturday 13th September.

Food + Drink

Sri Lankan comfort food
Kolamba founders Eroshan and Aushi Meewella have opened the doors to a new Sri Lankan street food restaurant on Maiden Lane. Taking inspiration from the country’s vibrant roadside vendors and rich cultural heritage, the restaurant – ADOH! – takes its name from a popular Sri Lankan exclamation used in greeting or surprise. The menu consists of hearty dishes such as kothu, a dish of chopped roti, vegetables, and eggs, finished with curry sauce, mutton rolls, devilled sausages and chilli prawn toast with tamarind sauce. Round things off with a healthy offering of salted jaggery soft serve and a glass of Kithul Rum Punch.

ADOH! is located at 36 Maiden Lane, WC2E 7LJ, more info here
