Very exciting
The day has finally arrived – we’ve had our first glimpses of Jonathan Anderson’s Dior. In a teaser campaign, French football sensation Kylian Mbappé sports two looks from the forthcoming inaugural menswear collection: a sharp blazer-and-tie ensemble and a sleek eveningwear look. The blazer is a single-breasted grey affair, matched with a light blue striped shirt and a red and blue tie. The eveningwear look is classic black tie with Mbappé caught in the middle of knotting his bow tie.
On Instagram, Anderson has been dealing out crumbs of information about his first collection for Dior. So far, he has posted two Polaroids by Andy Warhol. One of the artist Jean-Michel Basquiat and the other of the socialite (and sister to Jackie O) Lee Radziwill. Elsewhere, he has posted new designs for the Dior Book Tote, featuring designs that reflect the original jackets of the books Dracula by Bram Stoker and Pierre Choderlos de Laclos’s Les Liaisons dangereuses. Dracula being a classic of Irish literature and Les Liaisons dangereuses being a classic of French literature, it isn’t hard to see what Anderson is doing here.
But we will all have to wait until Friday June 27th to finally see the collection in full. The anticipation is unbearable!
