In news that’ll have you saying, “Oh, actually, no, that makes sense,” the trailer for Harmony Korine’s latest film has just dropped and it’s a first-person shooter where every character has a baby face. Titled Baby Invasion, the film is a real-world reimagining of video game shooters, but with a twist: AI has replaced the faces of all the characters with that of babies. Why? Because, well, why not?

Baby Invasion follows quickly on the heels of 2023’s Aggro Dr1ft, another gun-heavy movie from Korine, shot entirely in infrared. Both films are products of EDGLRD, Korine’s “creative and technology company,” where he’s been pushing the boundaries of what he calls “post-film”.

A notable aspect of Baby Invasion is its score, crafted by none other than Burial, the British electronic legend behind the influential Untrue album. Known for his sparse output, getting a whole film score from Burial is something of a treat, even if it is coming in this highly unconventional way.

The film’s New York premiere on March 21st promises to be just as unconventional as the movie itself. Korine will host an interactive screening, deconstructing and remixing the film live. Think of it as a DJ set, but with a film. We wish we could be there!
