The rumours are, once again, true – Glenn Martens is the creative director of Maison Margiela. Martens will be Margiela’s third-ever creative director, after Martin Margiela himself and John Galliano, who helmed the brand from 2014 until 2024.

The appointment is fitting, both Martin Margiela and Glenn Martens are Belgian and both graduated from Antwerp’s Royal Academy of Fine Arts (the academy also birthed the Antwerp Six). Having been the creative director of Y/Project from 2013 until 2024, Martens will remain as the creative director at Diesel as he takes on this new role.

In a statement, Glenn Martens said, “I feel extremely honoured to join the amazing Maison Margiela, a truly unique house that has been inspiring the world for decades. And I thank Renzo for the trust he is putting in me.”
