Two of the biggest names in photography, Magnum and Polaroid, have teamed up to discover the next wave of visual storytellers. Open Call has been headlined by renowned Magnum photographers Enri Canaj, Jim Goldberg, and Newsha Tavakolian and drew over 2,000 submissions from a diverse pool of talent from over 100 countries. Ten winners have been selected for their ability to tell empathy-evoking stories, each receiving mentorship from the Magnum photographers.

At the Paris Photo Fair in November, the ten winners’ work will be on display at an exhibition titled Real Life is Not Black and White. The ten photographers are Jakub Stanek, Jaír Fernando Coll, Maria Beatriz de Vilhena, Mengwen Cao, D. M. Terblanche, Mohamed Hassan, Stefan Pavic, Aleruchi Kinika, Natela Grigalashvil, Jed Bacason and a selection of all their work can be viewed below.
