See You At 5
Before they take to the Moors as Cathy and Heathcliff in Emerald Fennell’s forthcoming adaptation of Wuthering Heights, Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi are playing much more familiar roles in the latest video campaign for Chanel N°5. Directed by Italian filmmaker Luca Guadagnino, See You At 5 is a classically chic and sun-kissed campaign from Chanel, featuring Robbie and Elordi as two lovers who just miss out on meeting each other.
At two minutes and twenty seconds, it’s one of the longest-ever campaigns for Chanel No. 5 – soundtracked by Daft Punk track Veridis Quo from their Discovery album. References are abound in the campaign too, such as with Robbie’s red skirt suit which is a nod to the one worn by Carole Bouquet in Monuments, the Ridley Scott-directed Chanel N°5 campaign from 1986.
In accompanying behind-the-scenes images, we see Guadagnino directing Robbie and Elordi. It’s the first time both actors have worked with the director and, hopefully, not the last!
“I think Chanel N°5 is one of the most iconic fragrances in the world,” says Robbie. “It’s incredible to be a part of it. There’s such an impressive lineage of women who’ve been associated with the fragrance over the years. I am very honored to be joining that long list of incredible talents.”
