In a ceremony in Paris this afternoon, this year’s winners of the prestigious LVMH Prizes were announced. The top prize, the LVMH Prize for Young Fashion Designer, went to Ellen Hodakova Larsson for her brand Hodakova. As the winner, Larsson will receive €300,000 and tailored mentorship from LVMH to grow and sustain her brand. Hodakova had very much been the bookies’ favourite to win the prize ever since revealing her FW24 collection in Paris last season. In our review, we noted the ingenuity of her designs as well as the clever and innovative ways that she repurposes objects into stylish garments.

The Karl Lagerfeld Prize, which offers €150,000 and a year of mentorship, went to Duran Lantink. Another favourite of Paris Fashion Week, Lantink started his brand by brazenly upcycling materials from other design houses into outfits of his own creation, controversially keeping all those house’s logos and branding on display. In recent years, he has pivoted towards an instantly recognisable sculptural style. His outfits are often lumpy and bumpy and play with proportions in a playful, yet fashion-forward way.

In a new addition this year, a whole new prize was added, the Savoir-Faire Prize, rewarding exceptional craftsmanship, technical expertise, innovation and sustainability. Naturally, it went to Michael Stewart for his brand Standing Ground. For many years, Stewart’s designs for Standing Ground have displayed everything that the Savoir-Faire Prize stands for. During his time at Fashion East, his slot in the show was an unmissable moment on the London Fashion Week calendar and his show this LFW will not be one to miss. As the winner of the Savoir-Faire Prize, Stewart will receive €200,000 and a one-year mentorship by LVMH.
