One day only

Jawara Alleyne and Alvaro Barrington are holding a Notting Hill Carnival pop-up
By Barry Pierce | 22 August 2024

If you’ve been to Alvaro Barrington’s exhibition GRACE, currently on display in Tate Britain’s Duveen Galleries, you’ll be familiar with that grand statue that dominate the galleries’ central rotunda. The four-metre-high aluminium sculpture of a dancing figure wears an outfit designed by one of London’s most exciting new designers, Jawara Alleyne. Now, Alleyne and Barrington have reunited for a pop-up event at this year’s Notting Hill Carnival.

The pop-up, which will last for one day only at Alvaro Barrington HQ, will be offering pieces from Alleyne and Barrington’s recent Come Home Capsule – sold to raise funds for the Notting Hill Carnival Trust – alongside items from the ‘Grace’ edit, inspired by Alleyne’s recent work with Barrington at the Tate, as well as a selection of other capsule edits from the ‘Untitled by Jawara Alleyne’ collection.

Alleyne and Barrington’s Carnival Pop-up Shop will take place at Alvaro Barrington HQ on August 24th.
