subcultural icon
Despite George Cox being founded in 1906 and YMC in 1995, both brands are key players in Britain’s subcultural story. Inspired by their shared passion for music, style and culture, the brands have teamed up to rework George Cox’s iconic Creeper shoe.
Invented in 1949, the Creeper became synonymous with various subcultures, particularly punks, goths and 00s emo, known for its crepe sole and D-Ring fastenings. Repurposing this heritage for today’s generation, YMC offers a contemporary spin, combining black leather with a leopard print (perhaps a nod to Joe Strummer’s famous guitar strap) or suede apron, corrugated crepe, stark contrast stitching, and black hardware.
The collaboration launches on August 22nd at youmustcreate.com and georgecoxfootwear.com
