To the ski slopes
Having just bagged a record-breaking ninth British Grand Prix victory at Silverstone this month, seven-time Formula 1 World Champion Lewis Hamilton has now been named Dior Ambassador for Men’s Fashion – and he’s guest-designed his own collection.
Inspired by Hamilton’s “powerful, exhilarating universe’ the capsule finds common ground between the sports star and Dior’s Kim Jones: a winter lifestyle centred around skiing and snowboarding and a shared love of Africa’s landscape and cultures.
Within the collection, these influences combine across functionality and finesse. Soft, voluminous silhouettes borrow from the world of sport as technical outerwear is worn with traditional tweed tailoring, slouchy denim, graphic knitwear and garments crafted by the weavers of Burkina Faso. Accessories are made for the slopes, offering highly-technical protective gear, snow sneakers, backpacks and custom snowboards.

“We share a love of nature, a desire to celebrate Africa and an interest in the artisanal processes and techniques that unite craftspeople in Africa with the savoir-faire of the Dior ateliers, says Jones. “Added to that,
this collection also reflects Lewis’ sporting side, his virtuosity and our functionality. all in all, the way things came together happened very organically – and enjoyably!”
Hamilton said: “Working with Kim and the talented team at Dior has been a dream, and I was honoured when Kim asked if I’d like to do this with him. Our values and ideas are aligned, making it easy to bring to life a creative collection infused with our shared experiences. focusing on conscious choices and pushing boundaries with each piece, while merging inspiration from my roots in Africa – drawing from their fabrics and belief in natural materials, as well as vibrant colours and powerful energy – has been so inspiring. I hope people everywhere feel good in these garments we designed so carefully.”
