Down From Up North

Adam Jones and Colours of Arley embrace the stripe
By Barry Pierce | Fashion | 5 June 2024

It’s going to be stripes for summer thanks to Adam Jones’ collaboration with Colours of Arley. A producer of bespoke striped fabrics, Colours of Arley was founded in 2022 by Louisa Tratalos and is based out of a store in East London’s Hackney Road. Adam Jones and Colours of Arley first collaborated at an exhibition in the Hackney Road store, The Devil’s Cloth, where Jones displayed pieces from his most recent collection inspired by the stripes of butchers’ aprons.

This capsule collection expands on the concept of butchers’ stripes, drawing parallels between them and the pinstripes of a businessman’s suit. Titled DFUN, standing for Down From Up North, a term that both Jones and Tratalos embrace as blow-ins to London, pieces are made using 100 percent recycled polyester canvas made from plastic bottles, printed in Manchester by Colours Of Arley and made into garments in London by Adam Jones.
