New Role
Just a week after dropping their star-studded SS24 campaign, Burberry is adding another name to its stacked roster of global ambassadors — Chinese actress Tang Wei.
Tang rose to fame as a finalist in Miss Universe China in 2004 before turning to acting soon after, winning acclaim in 2007’s Lust, Caution where she worked opposite Tony Leung and received a nomination for BAFTA’s Rising Star. Ever since, she has remained a superstar of Chinese cinema thanks to her performances in Kim Tae-yong’s Late Autumn and Xue Xiaolu’s Finding Mr. Right. For her role in Park Chan-wook’s Decision to Leave, Tang was catapulted back into the international spotlight, thanks to the film’s Palme d’Or nomination.
Of her new ambassadorship, Tang says; “Having known Burberry for many years, it feels as though we’ve become old friends, with its influence woven deeply into my life. I’m truly grateful for this enduring companionship. I adore Burberry’s distinct mastery of colour and lines, which exudes a sense of both familiarity and novelty. It’s a British charm that I’ve come to know and love, coupled with a timeless yet rebellious modern spirit. Fate brought us together. This friendship is like a rose, and I would love to see it blossom.”
