It turned heads when it was announced over the summer: Future is going to design a capsule collection for Lanvin. Now, the inaugural Lanvin Lab collection is here. Though they may not on the surface seem like kindred spirits, Future took a lot of inspiration from Jeanne Lanvin herself. “I created a vibe with this collection, something you can feel when you wear it,” Future says of the collection. “Jeanne Lanvin drew inspiration from her life and lifestyle. We are the same in that way, we create from experience.”

Named Pluto, a reference not only to the 1930s, when Pluto was discovered and when Jeanne Lanvin herself was at the height of her powers, but to the regeneration and transformation of the dwarf planet, Future’s Lanvin Lab collection is completely unisex and emphasises his love of layering and tailoring. Hats in faux fur are worn with sunglasses, or stacked over or under hoods. Metal accents feature throughout: on belts, bags, gloves and leather goods. There are even sleep sets comprising slippers, a pillow and eye mask. Drawing from the Lanvin archive, the collection features a leather jacket with embroidered metallic studs. Even some of the typography of the 1930s and 40s makes its way into the collection, decorated across denim.

The Lanvin Lab by Future collection will be released over several drops on his birthday, 20 November, and following early 2024.
