For the past 40 years, Lars von Trier has manipulated, upset, and offended audiences with this controversial films. From his first feature, 1984’s The Element of Crime, through to his bleak masterpieces such as 1996’s Breaking the Waves, 2009’s Antichrist and his two volume Nymphomaniac from 2013, von Trier has been a director who knows how to divide an audience as well as he can win them over with his nihilistic outlook on life.
Now, you can witness all this despondent glory in crisp, 4K prints with Curzon’s Lars von Trier retrospective box set. Comprising on fourteen Blu-Ray discs, this Collector’s Edition set contains six brand-new restorations of films such as The Idiots and Europa, as well as early shorts and TV movies and over eighteen hours of special features.
As well as the fourteen films, there is a 68-page booklet including new essays by Slavoj Zizek, Catherine Wheatley, and Steven Ryder, and four collectible posters. All of this is housed inside a canvas slipcase with illustrations by Daniele Castellano.
