If you weren’t at Hedi Slimane’s epic FW23 Homme show at iconic Paris venue Le Palace, the next best thing is to live the night through the designer’s newly-released film. With Slimane’s SS24 Celine Homme show set to take place this week on 2nd July, this is the ideal way to get in the mood.

An electrified ode to visionary NYC duo Suicide, Slimane’s FW23 collection plugged us into their trailblazing style and sound. A brooding mix, all black leather ensembles studded with punk chainmail were Alan Vega reincarnations, while models in leather noir jumpsuits appeared like feral Elvises. Metallic fringing swung side to side down the runway, while a shimmering overcoat shone like a deadly mirrorball. As lights crisscrossed through the theatre, an extended version of Girl by visionary New York band Suicide (formed of the late, great Alan Vega, and Martin Rev), co-produced by Jared Artaud of modern Brooklyn outfit, The Vacant Lots, played loud. As we’ve come to expect with a Hedi Slimane Celine show, the runway was part of a larger experience: post-show guests watched live performances by The Murder Capital, Lime Garden, Fat Dog, Club Eat, Sexy Damion, Dese and Comatosed, alongside a very special performance by The Libertines.

Watch the accompanying FW23 short film above – full-screen, projected on your wall if possible, sound dialled up, for the full immersive experience.
