Premier League star Mason Mount curates his Matchesfashion wardrobe edit
By Alex James Taylor | Fashion | 29 March 2023

Chelsea and England football star Mason Mount is the latest name to curate his own Matchesfashion Shop With… wardrobe. While his on-field style is well documented, and celebrated, now Mount’s off-field sartorial sensibilities are brought to the fore via an edit that picks out some of his favourite pieces from the luxury online retailer. Elevating classic shapes with modern construction and print, Mount’s choices include JW Anderson pleated trousers, Visvim sneakers, an S.S. Daley sweater and a patterned Bode shirt.

The curation comes with an exclusive shoot and interview with the footballer in which he opens up about his personal life and sporting ambition. ‘To be able to go through that experience is so special and meaningful to me,” says Mount of winning the Champions League with Chelsea in 2021. “I’ve kept the boots from the game and I’ve not cleaned them.” Speaking of footwear, Mount also talks about his impressive sneaker collection, “‘I haven’t counted but I would say there’s probably 100 pairs in there and they all have to be meaningful to me… I have got some rare ones and when I went to New York quite a few years back, I bought two from a sneaker store. I haven’t really worn them but I just keep them for the memories.”

Elsewhere, Mount shows consideration of proportion and fit when it comes to clothing, recalling his changing tastes in tune with his body shape. “I’m not the biggest and when I was younger, I was even smaller. I always wore tight tracksuits or jeans but growing up and learning more about style, I definitely dress more loosely now… When you start wearing baggy stuff, it takes time for you to get into it and it’s grown on me over the years.” Now Mount can boast a Champions League winners medal and a stellar Matchesfashion wardrobe edit.
