Breaking news
Big, big news! Pharrell Williams has been appointed Louis Vuitton Men’s Creative Director, following on from Virgil Abloh after the designer’s sad passing in November 2021.
Effective immediately, Williams’ first collection for the French maison will be presented this June during Men’s Fashion Week in Paris – and it’s a guaranteed blockbuster. “I am glad to welcome Pharrell back home, after our collaborations in 2004 and 2008 for Louis Vuitton,” said Pietro Beccari, Louis Vuitton’s Charman and CEO, referring to Williams’ collaborations with then-creative director Marc Jacobs. “His creative vision beyond fashion will undoubtedly lead Louis Vuitton towards a new and very exciting chapter,” Beccari continued.
The NERD frontman and musical icon certainly isn’t new to the fashion world, founding Billionaire Boys Club, BAPE and Ice Cream apparel brands, alongside collaborating with many major houses. The announcement from Louis Vuitton also underlines Williams’ activism against racial injustice and non-profit work helping young people reach their potential – an ethos perfectly in tune with Virgil’s legacy. Stay tuned for more info.
