Portrait of a musician
Inside the Palais de Tokyo, at Hedi Slimane‘s SS23 Celine show this summer Tame Impala frontman Kevin Parker sat front row, tapping his feet to the live soundtrack performed by New York outfit Gustaf.
Soon after the show, Slimane travelled to the south with Parker for a special shoot on the French Riviera as part of the designer’s ongoing Portrait of a Musician photography series, which has previously featured the likes of Hennessy, Leikeli47, Gus Dapperton and Jack White. Here, backdropped by the Mediterranean coast, Parker wears signature Celine looks: kick-flare jeans with a pristine white blazer; a leather blouson jacket over a black silk shirt; and a classic fedora and aviator sunglasses combo. See the images below.

This year celebrates a major anniversary for Tame Impala, marking ten years since the release of their seminal sophomore record Lonerism. A game-changing work that beams with psychedelic melodies and effervescent electronics, Lonerism took the Australian band from cult heroes to bonafide global stars. And a new album is on the way, following up 2020’s The Slow Rush.
