HEROINE fashion film: Alexander McQueen’s morphing, transforming woman
Fashion | 2 November 2022

Shown in a warehouse in Brooklyn, New York, Sarah Burton’s FW22 vision for Alexander McQueen celebrated the US city’s iconic landscape – both natural and man-made. “Mycelium connects even the rooftop of the tallest skyscraper to the plants, to the grass, to the ground, to animals and to human beings,” explained Burton in the show notes, referring to the threaded fungal networks seen across the city, here translated as a metaphor for interconnection and community.

Documented for the new HEROINE 17 issue by photographer Samuel Stephenson and stylist Keeley Dawson, the collection comes to life through an exclusive fashion film premiered above. Models morph, grow and transform against a glowing backdrop reminiscent of a transient sunrise.
