Cali in a bottle
Hedi Slimane has introduced the fragrance Eau de Californie to his Celine Haute Parfumerie line with a special campaign shot by the designer and starring Presley Gerber.
Born in LA, Gerber fronts Slimane’s ode to California, which is described as “the memory of Palo Santo, that magical essence of wood, with fresh, smoky and creamy facets. In the background, the powdery notes of orris and tree moss give this Californian dream the signature of a Parisian couture house.”
The scent is inspired by Hedi Slimane’s former house in Beverley Hills, where he lived for ten years, the heat of Palm Springs, the surf beaches of San Clemente and San Onofre and the smell of the leather in his Rolls Royce Corniche.
In the accompanying imagery and shot film shot in California in December 2021, shots of Gerber are interspersed with classic Californian imagery – Long Beach, desert hills and palm tree formations – while My Ma by Girls plays in the background, taken from the San Francisco band’s sophomore LP, Father, Son, Holy Ghost (revisit our 2015 interview with Christopher Owens).
