Florals For Spring
We publish exclusive imagery from Kenzo‘s final limited-edition drop SS22, and you best believe they’ve saved the best till last.
So far, each launch has expertly riffed off of the brand’s decades-old style codes, whilst still managing to incorporate the forward-thinking vision of its new creative director, be that with archive prints and deconstructed workwear silhouettes, or the embedding of founder Kenzō Takada’s own sketches atop the new styles shown at Nigo’s stunning FW22 debut.
This time around, however, the designer has honed in on a selection of bold poppy prints, lifted from the archives of the brand’s eponymous flower-obsessed designer. Teased alongside a slew of wild plants on the runway, these flowers now adorn crisp shirts, dresses, skirts (and pretty much all else that’s on offer) in bright and bold forms.
These prints show vibrant, oversized florals dancing across Kenzo threads and fabric as they poke out of the fronts of Hawaiian shirts or the back pockets of jeans. Silhouettes uphold an air of androgyny with loose and boxy lines, and a strict palette of white, black, navy and pink spreads out across the remaining pieces. You can practically smell the freshness, as if Nigo’s designs were eternally in bloom.
Kenzo SS22 is available in flagship stores worldwide starting May 1st 2022.
