Sandals on. Glowsticks packed. Have you got a bucket hat and sunnies? Good. Remember your compass too, and some sun cream, because for SS22, we’re getting lost in the pleasure-seeking world of Loewe and Paula’s Ibiza.

Back just in time for festival season and the UK’s well-celebrated summer hols, Jonathan Anderson’s annual stylish resurrection of the sunny hotspot, from which this range takes its name, is fiending for a big blow-out. With Covid now seeming like a distant (or not-so-distant) fever dream, the designer wanted to place focus back on this transformative oasis and former clubbing Mecca as a place for us to leave our troubles behind, giving in to a spirit of escapism and endless contentment.

“Hedonism has been on my mind a lot of late: fun, partying, moments spent together releasing good energies,” says Anderson of his motivation for the joyous offering. “The collection is sexy and liberated, with the carefree attitude that is quintessentially Ibiza. It gleams with the sparkle of sequins, skin peaking through short hems, lacing and cutouts. Everything is uncomplicated, cut close to the body, and easy to wear.” 

Following last summer’s wild trip to Mexico, Gray Sorrenti is back, camera in hand, to capture the ensuing antics in the sun-kissed Balearic Islands. The photographer presides over the back of taxi cabs with cheetah-print interiors, where partygoers flee to afterparties in colourful halternecks. She catches sunbathing tourists with their crocheted Hammock handbags in warm, gradient hues, and acts as a wallflower when sequined skirted girls are thrung into the air in a crowd of champagne-poppers, spilling foam and bubbles over vibrant knits and luminescent loungewear from which playful peace signs and surfing motifs are brought to life under a rave-ready UV blacklight.

You can even take the scent of the festivities away with you via the brand’s second eau de toilette – Paula’s Ibiza Eclectic – with its swirling blend of orange flowers, night-blooming jasmine sambac, black pepper and Madagascan mandarin, all unfurling over a sweet base of coconut and vanilla.
