New Shapes
With indisputable authority on traditional workwear and subcultural style, Dr Martens and A-COLD-WALL*’s latest collaboration seeks to break the mould of regimented design once again.
Since the duo’s first collaboration back in 2020, the pair have sought to challenge the status quo with intricate construction techniques that fuse their respective brand DNA’s, whilst also looking to the sartorial possibilities of the future. Pushing the parameters of two famed silhouettes – their 1460 boot and 1461 shoe – as far as they’ll possibly go, this time around A-COLD-WALL* founder Samuel Ross takes Dr Martens to new heights with a double-length Bex Neoteric sole and that signature outerlayer black leather.
With deep cleating and an exaggerated side profile, such lightweight design lends itself to the Brutalist architecture that’s inspired much of Ross’ design work, underscored by a keenly deconstructed utilitarian design philosophy. Fused then with that classic Dr Martens silhouette, enclosed ghillie lacing and reflective A-COLD-WALL* panels, this is engineering at its most stripped-back and forward-thinking. We might not be ready for the revolution, but these boots surely are.
