World-renowned carmakers, Ferrari, zoom into pole position with their fifth drop from their debut SS22 fashion collection as they gear up to show at Milan fashion week later this month.
Taking a self-referential glance at their last show, a swift and eclectic offering that fused pit-crew staples (think neon jumpsuit sleeves and graphic motor prints) with svelte tailoring, embossed gowns and outerwear cut with ergonomic finesse, creative director Rocco Iannone’s latest drop for the franchise is as much a mission in practicality as it is in style. Colours were reigned into a handful of bold shades, styling was minimal yet impactful, and accessories exuded glamour from each sheeny handle and soft stitch.
Enlisting the classic visuals of Hugo Comte, the two work in perfect harmony to create an inviting world united by soft, warm hues, modern cuts and the smouldering stares of Mariacarla Boscono and Fernando Cabral. Coats were undoubtedly a focal point, streamlined and colourful, some with boxy-shoulders and lightweight finishes that include shapely collars and flapped-pockets, others segmented at the waist with dramatic crops, revealing new, sculptured lengths in silky blue nylon.
Emphasis was placed on tactility too, a changing of the guard that spun classic suiting into body-hugging tracksuits, or played tricks on the eye with shiny-oxblood trenches, while couture shapes took on futuristic finishes that glimmered and shone in all the right places. And the brand’s unrivalled material know-how completed the mix by bridging the gap between all things technical and refined, pairing soft, structured wools and cottons against those aforementioned shimmery nylons.
